The complete story of the number one singles and the artists who recorded them, each allocated a full page with B&W photo, from 1955 ("Rock Around the Clock") to 1985 ("We Are the World.") This copy hand-dated January, 1986, signed in full in black felt-tip by the author, and warmly inscribed on first preliminary page "To Mary Wilson." This book was indeed the personal copy of Mary Wilson, formerly of the Supremes, and was acquired from her hand. There is blue hi-lighting to page 101 (week of Dec. 11, 1961) which covers the history of the Marvelettes' "Please Mr. Postman." Else very-good-plus with shallow creasing to corners of rear wrap, but no creases to the spine. Still a handsome, glossy book; 616 pp. including index. Reduced from $47.
