Book Description Cornell University Press, Ithaca and London, 1985. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, 'First Published 1985 by Cornell University Press'). I wouldn't have expected this book to be quite as rare as it appears to be. There are plenty of soft cover editions from 1989. But I was unable to find another copy like mine anywhere on the Internet. Do your own search. This is a beautiful book and it's in very nice condition. Take a look at the photographs. The light blue covers are spotless. There isn't any wear at the corners or edges. There is a light semi-crease on the spine. The book is exceptionally well bound, absolutely no issues in that regard. Spine is very mildly cocked forward. The interior of the book looks fantastic. It has brown end papers. They are perfectly clean. In fact all the pages look perfectly clean. Leafing through I didn't see any soiling, although I can't promise there isn't a speck or two to be found. The pages are also quite bright and white. I didn't see any toning. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There aren't any markings or attachments. This is NOT an ex-library book. And I don't believe there are any creases or dogeared corners. There are four full-page color plates and seventy-six b&w 'Figures', almost all full-page. They all appear to be in perfect condition. The glossy paper of the plates has not caused any spotting. There isn't any foxing anywhere in the book. And the dust jacket is present, which makes it all the more rare. You can see it in the first three photographs. It is NOT clipped. The front cover looks very good. It has a bit of minor edge wear at the top. It appears to have a little handling soiling on the white part of it. The spine is in very good condition. It does have a little bit of darkening. The rear cover has a white background and, as you can see, does have handling soiling. The flaps are in very good condition. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover.
