While the title suggests that this is a monograph on birds, the majority of the work is actually 'an account of a dog sled journey along the Arctic Coast of Alaska, and the field work of the author collecting sea mammals and birds on Bering Strait during the spring of 1922, while on the Arctic Expedition of the Colorado Museum of Natural History' - preface. Illustrated throughout with photographs, mostly of the expedition rather than of birds. Published as a stand-alone issue of the Proceedings of the museum (Volume XVIII, No. 1). Smith, Pacific Northwest Americana, 418. First edition (first printing). A near fine copy in wrappers (paperback).
