A bright, near fine set with some scuffing to two morocco edges. One of 250 sets, initialed by the publisher. The best known work of the English-Sicilian ornithologist and sportsman Joseph Whitaker. He researched the work over a ten year period from 1894-1904. Some of Whitaker's collection of Tunisian birds still reside in the Natural History Museum, London. A beautifully produced set.
