About this title

Synopsis:

Black Knights and Starshine

Amid ridicule and hardship, Molec Ross has taken the enormous responsibility of leading one hundred and twenty men, women, and children who are all newly freed slaves from Mississippi to Indian Territory in Oklahoma. They have no animals so they harness themselves to hand-made conveyances to haul their meager possessions. Molec soon learns his people are ill-prepared to face the hardships without masters to tell them step-by-step what to do. He sees the need for education and proper speech, so he embarks upon a crusade to ready his people for self-sufficiency. Molec's seventeen year old wife, Rumella, known to him as Starshine, is the love of his life, his reason for not giving up. Molec is her protector and lover. Death, hardships, and the Ku Klux Klan cannot erase their love--but it raises questions which need answers.

About the Author:

I enjoy writing historical fiction that takes place in the time when my grandmother lived. Because of her and a great amount of research, I have a rich store of knowledge to call on. With a little creativity, I can take a piece of a memory and weave a story the way I fathom it might have happened. I love to transport myself to the late 1800s and write about a time not so long ago when the ten commandments were obeyed, and Godly morals were the accepted way of living, although not always adhered to. In my books, immoral, evil people, and criminals received their just dues. Since I love children, the down-trodden, and people of color, I write about the hardships they've endured, and being sensitive to their wants and needs, I write stories about their successes and their defeats.

I married young, and 56 years later the one love of my life left me for Heaven. We have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

I have been published in over 20 magazines, and have published 50 novels, mostly of the West.

I also write true stories about my handicapped son, my children, myself, and the memory of my wonderful husband.
