Though both sets of endpapers and page 53 bear a school's ownership stamp and the front free endpaper shows adhesive residue from a card pocket, now lost, with some toning from the adhesive going on through the title page, this book has otherwise clean pages, square, secure binding, and a sturdy green cloth hard cover with a long white smudge at mid-spine, a line of small black spots at the top front and another at the bottom right rear, and some rubbing and small spots of fraying at the corners, otherwise sound and well-kept. 129pp.; b/w illustrations. Though this story records only the adventures of one family starting a farm in 1860, their story typifies the 19th century Irish-American immigrant experience on the prairie. Bookseller Inventory #
