Book Description Harcourt Brace and Company, New York, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover, small quarto, viii + 152 pp. Original dark blue cloth with gilt titling to spine. Black and white photographs throughout. The memories and photographs of Captain Steichen, one of the war's most outstanding photographers, of his time on the Lexington, one of the U.S. Navy's most famous aircraft carriers. Corner gently bruised and a little light rubbing to the cloth at points and head and tail of spine. Light yellowing to pages, stronger at edges. Still a tight, clean VG or better copy in rather worn dustjacket (the dust jacket is missing some large chips, including about the top two inches of the spine, is splitting at the folds and has numerous short tears around the edges.
