Brown cloth with gilt titling and a small circular illustration in gilt. 816 pages. With 20 maps, all present as called for. A history of the Civil War including the Battle of Bull Run, Lee's invasion of Maryland, the battle of Antietam, the campaign against Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, etc. The work also chronicles the death and wounding of many generals, as well as the rosters of the regiment involved in the battles mentioned, listing the regiment numbers and those in command. An appendix in the rear provided a numerical accounting of those killed and wounded in the various battles. FAIR condition, EX-LIBRARY with a pastedown in the inside front cover, minor stamping and markings in the interior and call numbers in white written on the spine. General fading to the covers with a few small stains/areas of discoloration to the front cover. Minor soiling and scuffing with one heavy scuff/scratch at the center rear cover. Extremities scuffed with the cloth frayed and worn at the corners and hinges. Interior hinges cracked, with the front cover beginning to separate from the binding. All endpapers up to the half-title MISSING. Text block solid with scattered foxing, soiling and staining throughout, as well as a few stray library marks. Bookseller Inventory # 005144
