About this Item

Detroit-born poet Philip Levine (b. 1928) has won myriad awards for his dark poetry, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He was the => Poet Laureate of the U.S. for 2011?12. Some of the poems collected here were previously published in Field, The New Yorker, Ploughshares, and Western Humanities Review. For this edition from the => Aralia Press, 175 copies were printed by Michael Peich at West Chester University using Spectrum types on dampened Frankfurt. Nadya Brown contributed the blue title-page vignette of a man in a rowboat. This copy is => signed by Levine in pencil below the colophon. 8vo (24.2 cm, 9.5"). [10] ff.
