About this Item

First edition. 63 p. Tan cloth over boards. Gold spine and front titles. Poetry / Verse. As Whitney Young notes in his Foreword, author Jim Rogers's verse would lend itself wonderfully to music, a ballad for "the stark and terrible black ghettos in northern cities". Presented during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement then focused on a South in America where discrimination and violence against African-Americans, Voting Rights abuses and other racial inequities were predominant in the public eye. Rogers's voice is an angry one, and his focus is on conditions in the Northern cities. His is a social commentary also of critical importance. Fine in very good dust jacket. Signed by author. "To Robert Nelson, Jim Rogers" on free end paper. Stated 1st Edition. No other printings noted. EP 43076. Bookseller Inventory # Alibris.P0440007582

Store Description

Hi, Folks ... Mom said, 'I need to downsize'. Moving to assisted living, what she couldn't take included 8,000-plus books & records. A decade later, my upcountry barn is bursting. Books multiply as others recycle priorities. I now have 30,000 or more books (not yet all online) looking for good homes, and my learning curve has been a roller coaster. I celebrate word-crafters, thought-tumblers, laughter ... the arts of communication at every turn. I preserve, protect, and share. I am also Hedgehog Publishing, 'Words & Pictures by & for Folks with Prickly Backs, Soft Bellies, & Small Brains'.
