This book describes and illustrates an important part of Mystic Seaport's collection. 128 designs in all, from an 11'6" frostbite dinghy to a 159' coasting schooner, each accompanied by Maynard Bray's astute commentary on the design, the work of the designer, and the context of the boat.

About the Author:

Author Maynard Bray a dominant figure in the wooden boat revival and America's leading contemporary history of yacht design. Mr. Bray was a marine engineer before becoming the shipyard supervisor at Mystic Seaport in 1969. He later became technical editor for WoodenBoat magazine. He continues to write prolifically about boats and to supervise wooden yacht restoration projects. He is also the author of Mystic Seaport Watercraft.
