Foley covers not only the tanks themselves but the people who produced and fought in the tanks. After initial battlefield successes tanks were employed in areas and missions not suited to their abilities. In the 1917 the Battle of Cambrai tanks were employed in both a mission and terrain that matched their strengths. Since then the tank has been a part of every major army in the world.
