Walton Jr. is a TLS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Iowa City, IA, 2 February 1954. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Near fine. On "The State University of Iowa" letterhead, Walton thanks Gates for publications of the New York Civil War Round Table, of which Gates was an officer, and chats cordially about that group. Boldly signed in full. Paul M. Angle (1900-75) is a TLS, 1p, 6" X 9½", Chicago, IL, 6 June 1958. Addressed to Gates. Near fine. On "Chicago Historical Society" letterhead, Angle thanks Gates for Round Table publications and apologizes that "there are no copies of the Library of Congress book available. If I failed to keep a promise I'm chagrined." Boldly signed in full. Benjamin P. Thomas (1902-56) is a TNS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Springfield, IL, 9 September 1952. Addressed to Gates. Near fine. On "The Abraham Lincoln Association" letterhead, Thomas thanks Gates "for remembering me with a copy of 'The Round Table.' You can well be proud of such an attractive little brochure. It is delightfully planned and printed and I found it unfailingly interesting from beginning to end." Boldly signed in full. Harry E. Pratt (1901-56) is a TLS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Springfield, IL, 2 June 1952. Addressed to Gates. Near fine. On "Illinois State Historical Library" letterhead, Pratt chats about various Lincoln matters; "If you want a job for your spare time who don't you make a bibliography of Lincoln poetry." Boldly signed in full. Louis A. Warren (1885-1983) is a TNS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Fort Wayne, IN, 13 June 1955. Addressed to Gates. Near fine.
