About this Item

51 numbered pages and 15 un-numbered pages of photographs, illustrated with drawings and b/w photographs including many "Snap Shots" of individual members at play on the links. The "golf club bazaar" was an event used by strugling clubs to raise capital, often necessary to prevent a club's demise. In this case "The object of the Bazaar. is to raise funds to errect a more commodious pavilion, to improve the golf course (extend if practicable), and generally to place the club in a more satifactory financial position." Only a very few of these events warranted the publication of this nature, and the book from the Dalbeatie Bazaar is perhaps the scarcest of this genre. Contains a history of the 18-year old club, history of the game, advertisements of golf equipment and well-wishers, original poetry, excerpts from The Stymie by Robert H.K. Browning, history of Dumfries and Galloway Golfers'Asociation, Committees, stall-holders etc. The very fragile colored wrappers have been professionally repaired, plain paper spine replaced, upper and lower rear cover corners lacking. Internally sound with light soiling and creasing. Extremely scarce club history and history of golf in Dumfries and Galloway. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" Tall. Bookseller Inventory # 000755
