About this Item

Octavo in red burgundy cloth/brown paper in white dust jacket; 172 pages ; 22 cm. In English. This is the book that inspired Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting". "In this brave and moving book, the young son of Wilhelm Reich-the brilliant and controversial psychoanalyst and theorist whose books and laboratory apparatus were destroyed by the FDA in the fifties-probes with great depth and insight into the relationship between his extraordinary father and himself. When Reich died in 1957, Peter was thirteen. Although it took him several years to recover from the death, it took many more-another thirteen-to emerge from the overwhelming influence of his father's life-and death-to find his own indentity in the process." -dust jacket. Very good(+) copy in Good(+) dust jacket; DJ has been very well used but is still in one solid piece and is now protected in mylar; there is light edgewear along the edges and closed and open tears to head of spine and along the top edge near the head of spine; in addition to soil from handling there is price sticker residue to cover and a small brown burn mark just below the title; several creases to DJ cover and flaps; o/w dust jacket is holding up; cloth/boards are bit dust soiled and sunned around the edges; boards are bumped at the lower open corners and rubbed (boards exposed on rear lower corner); top edge of pages have a wee bit of foxing but it's barely noticeable; the pages are like new: clean, crisp, bright and free of marks, creases, marks and foxing; a gently used copy in a well-loved dust jacket.
