Description:

First Edition stated. Oversized hardbound (quarto). Paper-covered boards. There is a fairly large water stain to the front board, causing the paper to ripple. This water stain also affects the blank pastedown on the inside of the front. Important to note that the water did not touch the rest of the book. That said, very minor wear to the binding. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. Lacks the front flyleaf. Upper right corner of the half title clipped. No name of previous owner. The book is distinguished by a number of tipped-in color illustrations by C. Mary Tongue. No dust jacket. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Bookseller Inventory #

Book Description Cecil Palmer & Hayward, London, 1916. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fair. C Mary Tongue (illustrator). First in This Edition. The pages are generally very clean and bright for age, light tanning to edges, occasional light grubby mark. A few corners slightly stubbed, however, shows little signs of having been read. Endpapers slightly grubby, slight water stains to edges. Small white price sticker to FFep. Page ends tanned, grubby, top edge gilded. Covers, grey cloth with gilt decoration, generally clean and bright, small patch of bubbling, faded mildew stains to right edges. Corners bumped. Spine, white paper, bumped, creased to ends, grubby. Slight hint of bowing to book. Insides very good for age, covers showing their age. All eight, tipped in, colour illustrations present and in good order.
