Ward Campbell Halstead, took his A.M. degree from Ohio State, and a doctorate from Northwestern, he became Professor of Experimental Psychology and chairman of the department of Psychology at the University of Chicago. "In 1935 he established a special laboratory for the study of neurological patients from the services of Dr. Percival Bailey. . . " He also developed a neuropsychological battery to test brain functions. The frontispiece from this book shows a reproduction of an Egyptian papyrus, with a translation of the hieroglyphics telling a story of a brain injury recorded in this manuscript from such an early period [referencing Henry Breasted]; "the earliest known case of injury to the frontal lobes." â" p.103.
