Ex-Library copy. Mercersburg Academy Library bookplate on FEP (4"W)x(6"H). Label states "Presented by Mrs. L.C.Bareham in memory of Mr. Lucian Bareham". Lib. pocket on REP. Date Due paper label on rear of RFEP (tipped in) with "Discard" stamp on label. Spine color faded with faint white ascension number on bottom edge of spine. Small lib. label on rear cover. 95pp. Light brown cloth. 1st Ed. Tight, square, bright copy with firm corners. no internal notations, underlinings or marks. Light soil on paper edges. Signed presentation copy from Rutledge to "The Barehams, Dear Friends, With Love from "Arch" - May 15, 1936". Mrs. Bareham presented this copy to the Academy Lib. where it ended up in a box at a "Habitat For Humanity" book sale 80 years later with many other Rutledge Titles from his considerable opus. There were "extra copies" and in a decent state of preservation. There were some other "goodies" related to the early history of the Academy and the length of Rutledge's tenure as a Professor at the Academy and this wasn't enough. Several peices of rare Pennsylvania with color chromolitographs in fine bindings. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? This copy is accompanied with a 4-page glossy brochure highlighting Rutledge's academic achievements, his list of publications in poetry and prose to book and magazine formes + the national press. Last prose book listed is "Peace in the Heart" - (12) and The Song of Black Roland is in Poetry (9) - Magazines - Atlantic, Harpers, Scribners, Boy's Life, Sports Afield, Poetry, Field and Stream, Reader's Digest - et al.
