He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was a distant relation of Sir Walter Scott. He was a prolific author, writing some 90 books, including many yellow-backs. Titles included Adventures of an Aide-de-camp, One of The six hundred, The Scottish Musketeers and The Scottish Cavalier. Complete in three volumes. Condition: In half-morocco bindings. Externally, sound, though with some rubbing and marks. Some dampstaining to the boards. One joint is starting. Internally, generally firmly bound though with one plate detached. Hinges are strained. Staining to the pastedowns. Tidemarks to the plates, and the textblock edge. Pages are bright and quite clean, though with a few instances of foxing. Overall: GOOD. Bookseller Inventory # 035549
