Original Brooklyn Robins versus New York Giants scorecard with white paper wrappers stapled together, black and red colored chewing gum and cigars advertisements to front wrapper with florid border, Lucky Strike advertisement to rear wrapper, cut-out newspaper game score stapled inside, game info written neatly to front wrapper in pencil: "First game, Sat. Aug. 12, 1922 / New York - 11 / Brooklyn - 5," scorecard filled out neatly in pen. A good only copy with detached wrappers, a bit of soiling to bottom-center of front wrapper, some offsetting to scorecard page from newspaper score, and light rubbing to pen on scorecard page. Overall, a bright copy, rare in any condition. This original baseball scorecard is for a 1922 matchup between the Brooklyn Robins and the New York Giants. A number of players who played in this game went on to have Hall of Fame careers, including Dave Bancroft, Zach Wheat, and Casey Stengel. Stengel played right field for the Giants and is best known for his later tenure as the larger-than-life manager of the New York Yankees. This scorecard was published by Harry M. Stevens, a legendary figure in the history of baseball. On top of creating and marketing the first baseball scorecard, Stevens is also credited by many as the inventor of the stadium staple, the "hot dog.". Seller Inventory # BNLSC001
