Illustrated blue cloth hard covers, with an image of a horse drawn fire engine racing to a fire. 147 pages. With black and white photos throughout, depicting various fire engines, firefighters, and a few scenes of actual fires (or the aftermath). A history of firefighting, with emphasis on the then current methods and technologies, including many of the engines then available to the firefighters. Various firehouses and squadrons are discussed, including Boston, New York, Philadelphia and others. In GOOD+ condition. Moderate uneven fading to the spine, mostly to the lower portion. Otherwise minor uneven fading and darkening to the covers, with minor soiling. Some scuffing to the extremities, mostly to the corners and head and foot of the spine. Interior clean and solid with minor toning. Light foxing to the page fore edges and endpapers. Bookseller Inventory # 003748
