SET of 11 volumes; half vellum binding with gilt stamped covers, heavily gilt stamped spines with red leather title label over marbled paper covered boards; marbled endpapers; all edges marbled. Frontispiece to each novel. Very good++ condition for their age (publication dates range from 1853 to 1866). Edges, corners, and covers of books show mild wear and some discoloration; minor foxing on feps, minor wrinkling of several pages in vol. XI. No objectionable defects; no underlining; no highlighting; no internal markings except for gift inscription on ffep of volume I which reads, "James W. Arbuthnot from his friends & schoolfellows, Henry Offley Wakeman, Philip Thomas Godsal and Frederick William Godsal on his leaving Eton Dec. 13th 1867". Previous owner's bookplate (James W. Arbuthnot) inside front cover of each book.
