About the Author: Lani Ah Tye Farkas is a fourth generation Chinese American, born and raised in Stockton, California. She graduated from San Francisco State University in 1969 and has been an elementary school teacher in Stockton since 1971. Ms. Farkas is the great grand daughter of Yee Ah Tye, the Gold Rush pioneer who established the Ah Tye family in California.
