A blank piece of letterhead from The Cactus & Succulent Soceity of America is laid in, which lists as President Ervin Strong, to whom with his wife apparently, this book is inscribed. The letterhead lists William Taylor Marshall, the author of this book, as President Emeritus. 4to. (31 x 24 cm.) xiv[2]1-227[5]p. Arranged and published by Scott Edson Haselton. Five Appendices and Index. Just a hint of rubbing to extremities else fine with all plates present and in fine condition and with no internal markings. Jacket spine sunned, chipped, else very good and better. Additional subtitle on title page: Supplementing the Work of Doctors Britton and Rose, This Volume Describes All of the Acceptable new Genera and Species Since Nineteen-nineteen and the Changes in Classifications Necessitated by Recnt Discoveries. Born in Philadelphia, William Taylor Marshall [1886-1957] was a specialist in Cactaceae and Director of the Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, Arizona and the author of several other articles and books, often in collaboration with other scholars.
