12mo. x, 209p. Illustrated with 37 black and white line drawings and also 22 pages of black and white wild-flower illustrations. Selected References and Index. Front endpapers are a map of the Mojave Desert, the rear endpapers are a map of the Colorado Desert. Tan cloth with green letters on the front cover and the spine and a vignette in green on the front cover of a desert scene with a yucca in the mid-distance and a mountain in the background. No noticeable wear to extremities, cloth clean and bright, previous owner's signature (W. Prouty) on reverse of front free endpaper, else fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket slightly darkened but not price-clipped. Edmund C. Jaeger was an expert on the desserts of California, including another volume on desert wildflowers. "If we were going to motor across the Mohave or Colorado Deserts we should most certainly put a copy of Mr. Jaeger's book in the pocket of the car." [Nature Magazine on the dust jacket].
