First Edition. Profusely illustrated by halftones, and more importantly with eight tipped in plates, including six original photogravures and tipped in mounted halftones from gum prints. With work by J.Craig Annan, Edward J. Steichen, "Landscape", Frank Eugene, "Portrait Of Alfred Stieglitz", Eve L. Watson, by Heinrich Kuhn, Hans Watzek, Clarence White, and Gertrude Kasebier. 4to, , original printed wrappers with a design attributed to Thomas A. Sindelar. The wrappers are chipped at the edges, and the spine is partially gone, and the outer wrappers detached. The interior is tight, uncut and partially unopened, with the plates in fine condition. A forerunner and model for the later and more famous "Camera Work", CAMERA NOTES was considered the most significant American photography journal of its time. It is valuable today both as a record of photographic aesthetics of the time and for its many high-quality photogravures. As Stieglitz biographer Katherine Hoffman points out, "Each issue of Camera Notes was an art object itself, with is finely printed photogravures, well-designed layout and range of articles and text.".
