Description:

8vo. (21 cm.) [10]3-277p. Will 16 black and white illustrtions by Ross Santee. Endpapers are two different drawings by Ross Santee. Tan cloth with brown letters and a vignette in brown on the front cover of a horse and rider. Born in 1885 in Rock Island, IL, Frazier Hunt was a journalist and author, who wrote several books on Western American themes, including THE TRAGI DAYS OF BILLYL THE KID (1956). For almost 20 years, Hunt owned a cattle ranch in Alberta, Canada, and is therefore uniquely qualified to pen this biography of stories that came from Cap Mossman's lips. According to the dust jacket, Hunt spent weeks on end over two years interviewing Cap Mossman. This copy shows the error on p. 171. There is some mention of the Graham Tewksbury feud and of Tom Pickett, a member of Billy the Kid's gang. There is also a chapter on Aufustine Chacon, Burt Alvord, Billy Stiles, and Bob Downing. Rampaging Herd 1100; Six-Guns 1073. Bookseller Inventory #
