About this Item

sm 8 vo, 16 pp booklet. Addresses: The Baccalaureate, by Mrs. Catt; Awarding the Degree, by President Nelson; Appreciations by Dr. Downey, Dr. McIntyre. SIGNED BY ALL CONTRIBUTORS. This booklet is bound in HARDCOVER, green buckram, gilt title on spine. NOT EX-LIBRARY. SIGNED by Grace Hebard on ffep, as well as cover of booklet itself. CARRIE CHAPMAN CATT (1859-1947), suffragist and women's rights advocate, was President of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when the Nineteenth Amendment, known as the Anthony Amendment, was passed. Catt later cleared the path for the Nineteenth Amendment by leading the NAWSA in a campaign in 1917 to unseat four unsympathetic senators. According to NAWSA, "To Mrs. Catt more than any other single figure beside Susan B. Anthony.American women owe their right to vote." "GRACE RAYMOND HEBARD (July 2, 1861 ¿ October 1936) gained prominence as a Wyoming historian, suffragist, pioneering scholar, prolific writer, political economist and noted University of Wyoming educator. Hebard's standing as a historian in part rose from her years trekking Wyoming's high plains and mountains seeking first-hand accounts of Wyoming's early pioneers." (wikipedia).
