About this Item

First edition. Illustrated throughout with examples of the artwork of Claud Lovat Fraser, photographs, etc., in black and white. 4to, original salmon paper wrappers bound in gray 56. A very nice copy. An enumeration of the extensive collection of Fraser s work possessed by his wife that was exhibited at the University of Hull in 1968. The catalogue contains particularly interesting biographical and critical notes on his life and art, and is a charming addition to any collection of the Fraser enthusiast. Fraser is best remembered for his work with the Lyric Theatre where he did costume and character studies as well as set art and poster designs. In his short career, he died at the age of thirty-one, Claud Lovat Fraser made a considerable impact on the world of art. In the words of John Drinkwater, "Beauty of spirit flowed in everything he did into beauty of execution." The plates of this book are no exception. Bookseller Inventory # 17660
