About this Item

New York: George H. Doran, 1924. Edition not stated. Some slight wear, overall Very Good hardcover, w/o dustwrapper. Book plate. Includes crime tales (The Cavalier of the Streets" etc.), and exceptional ghost stories (The Ancient Sin" and two others), amidst tales of London's bohemian and Mayfair dandy society of the Roaring 20s (When a Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" was the inspiration for the popular song of the same title, a hit for the Glen Miller orchestra). Arlen was himself a Mayfair dandy, and the model for D. H. Lawrence's character of Michaelis in "Lady Chatterley's Lover."
