In The Gentleman's Calling, 1660, he dealt almost exclusively with the gentleman's spiritual needs and dwelt on the responsibilities of fortunate birth. " Allestree argued that the gifts of wealth and breeding were meant to be shared and the possessor was merely the lucky conduit through which they passed. He goes on to note that leisure should be used by the gentleman in "preventing or curing spiritual maladies."[See Aresty p.95-96]. Bookseller Inventory # 20027
