About this Item
157 pgs. + 35 pgs. adds and Seaside Library book catalog. Only original PB title of this work that I could find, and this is a very rare publisher as well! This is an original 19th. Century Paperback dated 1891, this is NOT one of the more common Print-On-Demand Books offered for sale all over the net these days. Black font on spine, black and grey font on fc, along with a b&w seaside engraving on fc. Cover is decorated like an old alligator skin covered valise, and is quite striking! VERY GOOD Shape, pretty good corners and spine ends, two faint spine creases, bright covers, rc has a period cocoa add. Text is complete with no damaged, missing, or loose pages, unmarked, and odor free, but pages edges are brittle. No DJ as issued. These early paperbacks were designed to be a less expensive way to get reprints of popular or classic works into the hands of the everyday 19th. Century person. They used acidic papers and ink, and usually have uniform foxing starting with the page edges and gradually fading inward towards the text. Generally, they have not survived the ravages of time nearly so well as their hardcover counterparts. Many titles have no surviving copies of any kind in PB that I have been able to come across as of yet. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 001224
