Book Description Seeley and Co. Limited., London, 1896. Quarter-Leather. Condition: Very Good. 7th. Bound with Black leathere spine and blue buckram boards with gilt titles. Leather frayed and scuffed. . Front baord stamped with 'Upper Norwood Public Library' with ticket holder and lending history inside front cover. The front hinge leather has split and has been repaired. Text clean and pages tight. 9 illusstrations as called. During the Crimean campaign Hamley commanded the artillery under Sir Richard Dacres and published articles on the campaign in progress for Blackwood's Magazine.became a professor of military history at military history at the Staff College at Sandhurst. His treatise "The Operations of War" (1867) became a standard military textbook and is said to have garnered much praise from the German Chief of Staff Helmuth von Moltke (the Elder).
