Cabinet Card Photograph (4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inch), photographed by Edinger of Des Moines, Iowa. Marie Waldt Riddell was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1863. After graduating from school in 1880 she came to America. After two years of teaching in New York she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she also taught. In 1885 she married William O. Riddell (1858-1937) who eventually became Superintendent of the Des Moines School System. For a brief while Marie was a professor of German and French at Drake University in Des Moines during the late 1890s. Bookseller Inventory # 11626
