About this title

The story of the Holy Name Cadets drum and bugle corps. Also known as the Garfield Cadets, the Cadets of Bergen County and most recently as The Cadets, this book contains both a narrative and pictorial account of one of the most honored drum and bugle corps in American history. With a corps whose history is rich in tradition, this book offers over 275 photo's, numerous Cadet memories, and a comprehensive history of this fabled corps, some have called, "the model corps". A must purchase for all Cadet and drum & bugle corps fans. Stunning photography with never-before seen images, and a story line that simply takes your breath away. Take a look at the cover - the ghosts of Cadets gone by are still marching with them. . .

About the Author:

Greg Cinzio was a marching member of the Cadets, playing soprano bugle in field competitions from 1967 through 1976, and completed his marching career with the Cadets as Drum Major in 1977. He co-authored two historical books for the Cadets, "Reflections, a history of our corps" published in 1976 and "A Tradition of Excellence" published in 1984, together with a Cadet Yearbook, "Memories", published in 1976. His wife, Lynn, his brother and sister and their spouses, were all Cadets, and his dad, Dr. Joseph Cinzio, was a former Cadet Director. Dave Shaw marched in the Cadets from 1950-1958 as a baritone player and section leader. His career in drum corps has touched virtually every facet of the activity starting in 1950 and continuing through to the publication of this book. He has been associated with many fine drum corps, was a writer and editor for many fine drum corps publications, and contributed significant time, talent, and effort to the promotion and development of drum corps as a unique and valuable activity for young people. When he is asked to provide a brief profile of himself, he simply states: "born a Cadet, lived a Cadet, will die a Cadet."
