Light use to the white wrappers, otherwise a fine copy New edition, wrappers issue. Bertholf A8e. Presentation copy, or "A Preface Preface for J.W." Duncan has covered a preliminary blank leaf with the following manuscript for poet and Jargon Press publisher Jonathan Williams: "Digging for the foundations to be laid, the workers came upon Roman and even Greek [illegible] facts that betrayed an old affair du coeur preserved by lava flows and impacted ashes. It was a tongue touching an old truth to test the ache of it now turnd to a roseate nostalgia. The initials entwined with hair and vines (fruits and roses superimposed) were only partially decipherable and in linear Greek Z, a code as yet unbroken. Poets have however a Field Day over such remnants. Carbon tests revealed it was years ago in any event. R.D.". Bookseller Inventory # 22537
