12mo. pp. [16], 384, [56]. With engraved frontispiece or extra illustrated title and 12 profile engravings - representing the 12 Caesars. Text contains occasional decorative initials and head and tail pieces. Pages are clean and crisp with occasional miniscule spotting. Shelf number printed in old hand on verso of front fly-leaf. Small tear to rear fly-leaf neatly sealed. Bound in contemporary vellum with gilt monogram on front cover. Contents include the "Twelve Caesars" which covers the biographies of the first 12 emperors of the Roman Empire - Julius Caesar, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero, Galba, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian. Included also are Suetonius's shorter works De Illustribus Grammaticus, De Claris Rhetoribus and other fragments. The notes of Marcus Zuerius Boxhornius are given at the end.
