First Edition/Later printing ((May 1908). This book is a reprint of the 1903 edition, and appears exactly as the true First Edition/First Printing. 231 pages, 2 pages of ads at end of book. Bound in original type T blue vertically ribbed cloth, gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Front cover decoration is a man with dogs and sled, in black and green, with reddish sky, a dog in same colors on spine. Designs on front cover and spine boxed in black frame. Top edge gilt, as issued. Illustrated by Philip R. Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull with 17 plates, including frontispiece, some in full color, page decorations by Charles E. Hooper. POS on FFEP in ink, dated 1909, sort of adds to the provenance of the book. Tight and bright text block, and no pages or illustrations loose. No marks of any kind, other than the previous owner's signature (George Sturges Carpenter) on the first front end paper. Size: 5-1/2" x 7-3/4". Bookseller Inventory # 002650
