Synopsis: Called, But Not to Preach; is a 'must read' type of book which will capture your attention from the very first page and hold it to the very last word. It is a book for all ages, races, gender, nationalities and denominations of the Christian Faith. It will take you through all the emotions; you are likely to cry through the struggles or become angry at some of the injustices and laugh at the mind of a small child. For sixteen years, Betty was employed by one of the Country's mega churches with over 12,000 members, Ebenezer AME Church, Fort Washington, MD. She gave copiously of her gifts and talents to God's honor and glory in what she called her ministry, not her job. The powerful, life-changing testimonials will speak for themselves. Many lives have been changed and decisions made after reading this heart-touching account by Betty Savoy.
About the Author: Betty Harmon Savoy grew up on the Eastern Shore Virginia as a sharecropper's daughter during the Great Depression and World War II. She earned a BS Degree in Business Education from the University of Maryland, where she also pledged and became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She taught Business Education at several schools in the USA and Spain. At an early age, Betty established her personal relationship with God. Not always understanding what was going on in her life and that of her family, but she had a strong faith and believed that everything in their lives depended on God's grace and mercy. As a mere child, she wondered, what would happen if God died? As a child, she tested God and He proved Himself to her. Through all of her encounters, she never doublted that God had His hands on her. She searched for 50 years trying to find God's purpose for her life. Just when she was ready to give up, God called her into the ministry He had for her. After 16 years of faithful, dedicated service to her church, she retired, wrote and published her memoir with hopes that her experiences would be a blessing and help others struggling to find and seek God for their purpose or calling. Betty also feels that it's important for each of us to give something back as it has been given to us, and to leave something to help those coming after us. Betty now spend her time traveling, promoting her book, speaking engagements and still find time to work part-time at Ebenezer AME Bible Institute, Inc.
