Black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Boards are generally in good order, just rather grubby. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine, including the lettering, is faded with bumping to ends. Slightly cocked. Age discolouration to endpages. Slight water stain to reverse of b/w photographic frontispiece. Textblock is in good condition, clean and tight. 198 pp + adverts + appendix + index. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 572g. At the time of his death he was the United Kingdom's leading flying ace, with 44 victories, and remained its fourth-highest scorer behind Edward Mannock, James McCudden, and George McElroy.
