Restored copy. Green cloth with gold lettering and cover design. Spine rebacked with near matching cloth and original spine pasted over. Very strong copy. Front corners are rubbed. Original endpapers placed back in. Pastedowns are chipped along the edges. Beautiful color frontispiece with sepia paper covering. All other plates and illustrations are in place. Nice working copy. This copy is not in collectible condition and is offered solely as an reading copyQuarto, 10 1/4" tall, color frontispiece + 639 pages with intertextual 'nearly 400' woodcut illustrations + 14 steel engravings, gilt spine titles, and decorations on 1/4 leather over red boards. A fair copy only with general shelf wear, back strip leather badly chipped, fore corner tips through the boards, binding broken, some signatures and pages loose (but all present) paper moderately yellowed illustrations clean and bright, but title page and one engraved page (both on heavier paper) are edge chipped.
