About this title
Imagine going back to the days of your childhood and getting the morning paper. In the back of your paper is all your favorite comic strips. Imagine that instead of the funnies, you are reading your favorite poetry.
"Caricatures of My Mind" is a collection of poetry, written by the Poetry Man, Cliff Feightner. Cliff has obtained an international following as he has posted at least one poem a day on various social media platforms. This book is a collection of poems written by Feightner since 2008. These poems are designed to be easy to read and aimed at putting a smile on your face.
I'm hoping you take more than a look
At my first poetry book
It's simple and funny
I hope worth your money
And it's not gobbledygook
From the Author...
For years, I have been on the emailing list of John G. Miller, author of QBQ! The Question Behind the Question. For those unaware, this is a book which deals with personal accountability. I have received the emails, read most of them and tried to apply what John has written. I originally heard of the book when I was listening to the "Dave Ramsey Show" on the radio.
One day, I opened my QBQ email and John was referring to a song called "Put the Blame On Me." This song was featured on an Elvis Presley movie. The subject of the email was about the Blame Game. I decided to respond to the emailing by sending John a poem of mine:
Some people think it is a game
Where they will be placing the blame
They will others assault
In placing the fault
Not owning it is just a shame
John responded by asking me what song that poem came from and I told him it was something I just wrote. From this point, we became friends. I also later wrote him limericks based on three of his books, QBQ!, Flipping the Switch, and Outstanding.
As I was going through my poems and looking for material for this book, I noticed that I write quite a few poems that could be considered uplifting. I try snarky at times, but it seems that snarky doesn't become me. Neither does pushing the envelope, as a local radio personality found out.
As previously stated, I usually refer to my work as "Random Acts of Poetry." And one of my coworkers pointed out that the acronym for that was "RAP." That prompted this poem:
What I write is an old man's rap
But don't think I fell into a trap
I'm not into bling
Or that low pants thing
My aim is to make people clap
This book is mostly a selection of my daily musings. I may give a bit of commentary with some of the poems. Some are self-explanatory. I just enjoy making people smile. And, as I tell people at my customer service job where I take calls for a toy company, I like making kids of all ages happy.
"A pleasant dose of fantasy, levity and humor to break up the daily barrage of gloom and doom coming our way." --DAN MILLER, New York Times bestselling author, 48 Days to the Work You Love
"Many ask the question, "How can I best express myself?" In Caricatures of My Mind, Cliff Feightner addresses that question with an insightful look into the creative mind of one who possesses a passion to communicate. This book will put a smile on your face, giving you reading pleasure you can return to many times over!" --JOHN G. MILLER, author of QBQ!, Outstanding!, and Raising Accountable Kids
"A whimsical collection of poems and other literary works creatively describing life's little pleasures, annoyances and observations. Cliff's work is a reflection of life that many will gain pleasure from reading on a daily basis to get their day off to a thought-provoking start." --DON OSTAPOWICZ aka DON OLSON, former reporter WJW, Fox 8, Cleveland, Ohio
"A delightful collection of fun, thoughtful, sometimes poignant and often-times funny look at life through his glasses. Whether lamenting the loss of a daily "muse" to delving into our collective passion for our "smart phones", Feightner weaves words seemingly effortlessly into accessible ideas that are profound. Reading this collection of poems leaves one entertained, enlightened, and simply happy to have been on a ride that is refreshing and comforting. Definitely a book to keep on your tablet and/or bedside table to read again and again." --CANDICE SMITH, Creator Chief 187™ Chatter
"If you're holding this book in your hands debating whether to buy it... rest assured you won't be disappointed. I refer to the author as, 'Poetry Man.' Like most of us, he's worked hard all his life. However, Poetry Man has rhymed his way through this crazy and unpredictable world. His poems are a refreshing look and observation of the many things that surround our everyday life.
So don't just toss it down
Read a bit and get rid of your frown.
Consider it a nice little treat
And help Poetry Man make ends meet."
--JEFF KINZBACH. Morning show host, WONE-FM, Akron, Ohio
"Caricatures of My Mind is filled with fun and witty rhymes which really resonated with me. Cliff Feightner's creativity comes through in his light prose. Reading through the poems provides some levity in a world today which is too often filled with gloom." --STEVE BRUBAKER, Chief of Staff, InfoCision Management Corp.
