About this title

Synopsis:

This book makes available the wealth of data contained in Cash Box's black contemporary album (78 rpm sets and 33 1/3 rpm stereo and monaural lp records) charts over a 22-year period. The information, previously available only through a search of the weekly charts themselves, has been completely integrated and accessed via artist and song title entries. The compilation contains many features not currently availaable in any other reference tool of its type, most notable the week-by-week listing of song chart positions.

About the Author:

Frank Hoffmann is Assistant Professor, School of Library Science, Sam Houston State University. He has published The Development of Library Collections of Sound Recordings (1979), The Literature of Rock II (Scarecrow, 1986), Popular Culture and Libraries (1984), and Intellectual Freedom and Censorship: An Annotated Bibliography (Scarecrow, 1989).

George Albert is a legendary figure in the music business. A songwriter in the heyday of Tin Pan Alley, he writes a syndicated newspaper column and is founder and president of Cashbox.
