About the Author: Sarah Gerdes has chosen to draw upon the legends of her birthplace, Costa Rica and the myths of Central America to create her time travel adventure series. Gerdes wrote her first short story at ten and her first regional article was published in 1986 at eighteen. She was soon published at the national level in Alaska Airlines Magazine, Catalyst Magazine and many others by twenty. At twenty-two, while working at a software company in Oregon when she launched Artscape Magazine, the first publication for the literary, performing and visual arts in Portland, Oregon. The success of the advertising-supported magazine led to its sale and at twenty-four, Gerdes was recruited to work in marketing for a software firm in San Francisco. During this time she traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Pacific Rim, and began to outline a series about time travel, adventure and the nature of good and evil. At 26, Gerdes started her own business consulting firm in San Francisco, and six months later sold her first client to Microsoft. As her firm experienced triple-digit growth, Gerdes wrote for Inc. Magazine and other national publications and completed her first non-fiction title for McGraw-Hill in 2002. Her adult novels include My Book of Life and its sequel, My Next Chapter, largely based on actual events in her life. Sarah is presently working on Book 2 in the Catacombs Series.
