About this Item

First Edition. The original auction catalogue of Bram StokerÕs personal library including some of his manuscripts, 83 pages, for a two day sale, 7-8 July 1913. The first 211 lots (described in twenty pages), detail a large number of items from Stoker's personal library and some of his own manuscripts including his original autograph notes used in writing Dracula, plus the manuscripts of Lady of the Shroud and Lair of the White Worm. Among the books sold are copies of such fantasy classics as Frankenstein and Rip Van Winkle. The catalogue records inscriptions in presentation copies from Mark Twain, Bret Harte, W.B Yeats, John Uri Lloyd (5 inscribed copies) and many others. Stoker was a great admirer of Walt Whitman and his interesting collection of presentation copies and manuscript material is detailed. Stoker also collected Abraham Lincoln material and one of the items offered is the manuscript for an original lecture Stoker give on Lincoln. Two inch tear at the lower spine of the upper cover, otherwise very good. Very rare catalogue. Bookseller Inventory # 14026J
