About this Item

First Edition, 6th. printing "Reprinted July 1951 (five times) " on copyright page. Contents very tight & clean, without cracks nor looseness. Previous owner small name near top of front pastedown which is hidden from view by front flap of dustjacket, otherwise no marks nor bookplate. Black cloth is very black, clean, square, without shelf wear. Gold spine lettering is bright, sharp, without flaking. Second issue dustjacket has the following points: $3.00 price with dollar sign above the shoulder of the letter "R" in "Catcher". Mention of BOMC selection on rear DJ flap (but not on front flap) Salinger photo by Lotte Jacobi on rear panel (top of author's head is 1/8" below jacket's top edge. DJ measures 8 & 1/8" tall. The front panel of the jacket is a sharp red color with slight toning to white areas. Rear panel shows very slight shelf wear to top edge. The red DJ spine is somewhat faded with author's name faded but legible, with 1/4" off top of dj at spine. Corners of dj are slightly rubbed. Partial flaking to fold where spine curve meets rear panel. NOTE: This dustjacket is in 2 pieces. The front panel detached from the jacket along the curve where front panel meets spine. In its mylar dj protector, it appears to be whole. Archival paper conservation could repair this. It presents quite nicely, as is. A scarce early reprint, published in the same month as the first sprinting. Please "Ask Bookseller" if this is available before oprdering. Size: 8vo. Bookseller Inventory # 2475
