Synopsis: There was the divorce from Billy to begin with and there was the divorce from Billy to end with. The split could have occurred ten years ago or a hundred years ago. Sometimes it felt like both. She still wasn’t certain which Cate she was. Was she the hurt victim; the deserted spouse? Was she the brave, independent woman; the mother who kept the remnants of her family together and created a new life for herself? Cate concluded a long time ago she was some god awful combination of weak and strong, independent and dependent, luster of life and suicidal all at the same time. Remarried and working as a nurse in Indianapolis, Cate wondered at times if someone had mistakenly pushed the pause on life’s remote control. Who could have guessed dinner at the local Outback Steak House to celebrate her 55th birthday could set in motion events that would change everything. But it had. And now there was no going back. Ever. Cate and Eric is a dramatic two-book novel that tells the story of one woman’s discovery of love and happiness when it’s least expected. The first book, Thirty-Eight Years Later, is a romantic retelling of a summer’s evening in the separate lives of five characters that will affect them for far longer than they know. However, it’s in the second book, Home Again, that their lives become intertwined in a thrilling suspense novel full of action, intrigue and unexpected twists. A wonderful mixture of romance and suspense, Cate and Eric expertly balances a touching love story with an engrossing thriller, all the while showing readers that happiness can be found when you least expect it. Cate’s story is a touching tale that shows us love and excitement aren’t always relegated to the past. With the poignant romance of Thirty-Eight Years Later, the story sets up the emotional foundation that drives the story forward and with an unwavering connection to these wonderful characters. It’s this foundation that holds the story together and ultimately progresses it to thrilling heights when the action picks up and danger lurks around every corner in Home Again. An emotional journey yet suspenseful thrill ride, this one-of-a-kind story encapsulates all of the high points in fiction, while blazing a trail of its own.
