First cheap edition. Lacking jacket. Purple cloth binding with gilt spine. Fading to spine and board edges. Slight staining to spine and spine edge of rear board. Good solid binding, a little light foxing to text. Complete with 16 colour plates and 15 illustrations within the text. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown endpaper (Henry Dexter Truscott). There is minor shelf-wear to the extremities of the cover with minor damage to the head and tail of the spine, the cover is quite heavily sun damaged.
