Very slight wear to extremities, upper cover just slightly bowed, bookseller's label to front pastedown, edges a little browned. Frontispiece drawing has been rather nicely hand-colored. (illustrator). 133 pages; orange cloth boards with black spine titles, black engraving of a boy driving oxen yoked to a charcoal wagon on front; decorative endpapers featuring hand drawn map of book's sites; signed and inscribed by author in brown ink (hand drawn musical notes, "Happy reading to you, Theresa Truchot") to front free endpaper; multiple full page black & white illustrations throughout; boards somewhat worn/blemished, with some fading to spine, very light markings as of ink to rear board; slightly cocked; spine beginning to separate from back cover at top; endpapers somewhat discolored, possibly from pastedown glue; multiple signatures in ink to title page, none readily identifiable as significant; a very good minus copy; of interest to the collector of Portland-area history, this book is the result of the author's interview of 94-year-old Charles Towt Dickinson (to whom it is dedicated) in the 1940s, from his account of working in the iron industry as a child (the Lake Oswego area being referred to as "the Pittsburgh of the West".).
