About this Item

The bound sermons are in generally very good condition, but the covers and the spines are starting to detach. These are all English sermons, no American sermons, mostly printed in the 1820's to the 1840's. The sermons are bound without their cover wraps and have trimmed edges to make a uniform size. I have given some sample authors and sample titles from one volume for the heading. Additional examples in another volume (of the 11 volumes ) contains: "A Charge Delivered at his Primary Visitation in August and September 1832", by William Lord Archbishop of Canterbury", London 1832, 50 pages; "A Charge Delivered at the Primary Visitation of the Clergy of the Dioceses of Dublin and Glandelagh", by Richard Whately, D.D., Dublin, 1834, 30 pages; "A Charge Delivered to the Clergy of the Diocese of Salisbury", by Edward Dension, D.D., London, 1842, Second Edition, 36 pages; "A Charge Delivered at The Triennial Visitation of John, Lord Bishop of Lincoln in 1837", London, 1837, 31 pages; "A Charge to the Clergy of the Diocese of Lincoln", by John, Lord Bishop of Lincoln, London, 1832, 36 pages; "A Sermon Delivered at the Cathedral Church of St. John", by Daniel, Bishop of Calcutta, London, 1834, 43 pages; "St. Paul and the Corinthians, or a Christian Minister's Duty - A Sermon Preached in St. Martin's Church Leicester, at the Visitation of The Venerable The Archdeacon, May 21, 1844", by Rev. R. Blunt, Loughborough, 1844, 22 pages; "A Sermon Preached at the Consecration of the Right Reverend Samuel Lord Bishop of Cork and Ross, in the Chapel of Trinity College, Dublin, on Sunday, March 27, 1831. There are a total of about 130-135 sermons bound into 11 volumes with spine labels that read "Charges and Sermons". The pages are very clean, are still crisp, and are tightly bound, but with wear to some spines, and some covers detached. There are theological library labels on the lower spines, with library blindstamps on the title pages and some following pages. The original owner's bookplate is on each inner cover. This minister has written a list of each sermon's author, title and date of publication on each frontpaper. Bookseller Inventory # 13965
